Working in Athens

A college town with serious kitchens

Athens packs a big restaurant and bar scene into downtown, right up against the University of Georgia’s North Campus. With more than 43,000 UGA students plus home football Saturdays, those kitchens see volume that would wear out most floors. Grout lines fill with grease, tiles crack under carts, and mats become a trip hazard of their own.

Athens is also a veterinary town. UGA’s College of Veterinary Medicine dates to 1946, and its 300,000-square-foot Veterinary Medical Center opened on College Station Road in 2015. That concentration of vets, specialists and graduates means a lot of clinics, boarding kennels and daycares in the area, all of which wash floors down daily.

Protect-All is non-porous, so urine and cleaning chemicals do not soak in or leave odor, and its matte finish is NFSI certified for high traction. Restaurants in Athens-Clarke are inspected by the Northeast Health District under Georgia’s Food Service Rules.

How a project runs

From walk-through to back in service

Site assessment

We walk the space, measure, check the slab or subfloor and note drains, thresholds and equipment that has to move.

Clear scope

You get a written scope: install system, color, cove base, drain rings, schedule and price. No guesswork on install night.

Install

Our factory-trained crew preps the substrate, sets Protect-All in urethane adhesive and welds the seams. Most kitchens are scheduled around closed hours.

Back to work

Rapid Weld seams take foot traffic in about 20 to 30 minutes; the adhesive reaches normal traffic in roughly 12 hours.

Athens FAQ

Questions we hear in Athens

What is the best floor for a vet clinic or kennel?
Look for a floor that is non-porous, seamless, slip-resistant when wet and tolerant of disinfectants. Protect-All checks all of those boxes, and its resilient surface is easier on staff and animals than sealed concrete. See animal care flooring for details.
Can you install before football season?
Yes, if we plan early. Tell us your game-day calendar and we will schedule the install during a quieter stretch, often overnight.
Do you work outside Athens-Clarke?
Yes. We cover Oconee, Jackson, Madison, Oglethorpe and Barrow counties and all of northeast Georgia.
Does Protect-All hold up to hose-down cleaning?
It does not absorb water, resists mildew and bacteria (ASTM G21) and has welded seams instead of grout. With drains fitted with stainless drain rings and an integral cove base, the whole room can be washed down.
