Grout is where commercial floors fail. Protect-All sheets are welded together into a continuous, non-absorbent surface, then carried up the wall with an integral cove base. Nothing for water, grease or bacteria to hide in.
According to the manufacturer, a 1,500-square-foot room of six-inch tile has about 6,400 linear feet of grout. The same room in Protect-All has about 750 linear feet of welded seams, a reduction of more than 80 percent. Every foot of grout you remove is a foot you never have to scrub, seal or replace.
Seams are welded chemically with Protect-All Rapid Weld, which takes foot traffic in about 20 to 30 minutes, or heat-welded with vinyl rod. Either way, the result is a continuous surface that meets the food code’s call for smooth, durable, non-absorbent floors.
Integral cove base carries the floor up the wall so the corner can be mopped and hosed clean. The FDA Food Code calls for coved junctions in wash-down areas.
Stainless steel drain rings are required at drains and floor penetrations of 3 inches or more, sealing the floor where water collects.
Transitions into walk-ins and dining rooms are detailed so carts roll smoothly and water stays out.
Georgia’s food service design manual lists “PVC with chemically welded seams” as an accepted walk-in cooler floor. Protect-All installed with Rapid Weld seams matches that description.
