Warning signs

Is your walk-in floor failing?

Walk-in floors usually fail slowly, then all at once. Catching it early can mean a floor overlay instead of a panel replacement.

  • Soft spots, dips or a floor that flexes under a loaded cart
  • Cracked or loose tile, especially at the door threshold
  • Water or ice collecting at seams or along the walls
  • A floor that stays slick no matter how often it is mopped
  • Rust stains, bubbling or peeling coatings on metal floors
  • Odor coming from grout lines or under the floor

What we do

Replacement options

01

Overlay a sound floor

If the structure under your walk-in is solid, Protect-All can often be installed over the existing floor, keeping downtime short.

02

Replace the substrate

Where the subfloor is rotted or delaminated, it has to go. The manufacturer recommends 3/4 in. marine-grade plywood as a substrate for coolers and freezers.

03

Seal the transitions

We detail the door threshold and wall junction with cove base and seal drains with stainless drain rings so water has nowhere to go.

Process

Keeping your product cold

Plan the move

We schedule around deliveries and help you plan where product lives while the floor is replaced.

Assess the structure

We check insulation, substrate and door threshold before quoting.

Install

Protect-All is set in adhesive and the seams are welded. Many walk-ins are done in a single overnight.

Back in service

We confirm when the room can be reloaded and brought back to temperature.

FAQ

Walk-in floor questions

What is the best flooring for a walk-in freezer?
A walk-in freezer floor must be smooth, durable, non-absorbent and slip-resistant in cold, wet conditions. Protect-All is rated by its manufacturer for sub-zero cooler and freezer conditions, has no grout and is NFSI certified for traction in matte.
Do I need to replace the whole walk-in to fix the floor?
Usually not. If the insulated floor structure is sound, we can often replace or overlay the wearing surface. If the insulation or panel is damaged, that part needs to be addressed first, sometimes with the cooler manufacturer.
Can you install in a freezer that is running?
The room needs to be emptied and brought up to installation temperature so the adhesive can cure. We plan the timing with you.
Is Protect-All approved for walk-ins in Georgia?
Georgia’s Department of Public Health design manual lists PVC with chemically welded seams among accepted walk-in cooler floor materials. Your inspector has the final word.
How long does a walk-in floor last?
Protect-All carries a 10-year limited manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects on the material. Our installation is also guaranteed for up to three years. Real-world life depends on traffic, carts and care.

Is your walk-in floor on borrowed time?

We will inspect it, tell you whether an overlay or replacement makes sense and give you a firm price.
