Working in Savannah

Kitchens in old buildings, floors that do not quit

Savannah’s Historic District, River Street and City Market draw visitors year-round, and many of those restaurants operate in buildings more than a century old. Uneven slabs, tight back-of-house spaces and limited closing windows make floor replacement tricky. Protect-All is installed in sheets and welded, not poured, so there is no multi-day cure.

The Port of Savannah handled 4.9 million TEU in 2023, making it one of the largest container ports in North America, and the logistics and cold-chain facilities around it need durable, cleanable floors in break rooms, coolers and food prep areas. Savannah’s humidity, with more than 48 inches of rain a year, also makes slip-resistant entryways important.

Food service in Chatham County is inspected by the Chatham County Health Department in Georgia’s Coastal Health District, under the state’s Food Service Rules.

How a project runs

From walk-through to back in service

Site assessment

We walk the space, measure, check the slab or subfloor and note drains, thresholds and equipment that has to move.

Clear scope

You get a written scope: install system, color, cove base, drain rings, schedule and price. No guesswork on install night.

Install

Our factory-trained crew preps the substrate, sets Protect-All in urethane adhesive and welds the seams. Most kitchens are scheduled around closed hours.

Back to work

Rapid Weld seams take foot traffic in about 20 to 30 minutes; the adhesive reaches normal traffic in roughly 12 hours.

Savannah FAQ

Questions we hear in Savannah

Can you install in an older building with an uneven slab?
Usually, yes. We assess the substrate first and level or patch as needed so the Protect-All sheets are fully bonded. The manufacturer requires specific moisture and pH conditions for concrete, and we test for them.
Does humidity affect the install?
Protect-All is installed with the HVAC running at normal temperature for several days beforehand, as the manufacturer requires. We plan the schedule around that.
Do you serve Hilton Head and the Lowcountry?
Yes, we cover South Carolina as well. See South Carolina.
Is the floor okay for outdoor areas?
The matte finish is UV-stable and interlocking tiles can be used outdoors. We will review each outdoor space before recommending it.
